Quality from Swizerland

Innovation, creativity, a commitment to the highest quality, a straightforward approach to customer relations and delivery dependability set feinwerkoptik zünd AG in a class by itself.

1991

Experience-based advantage

Establishment of feinwerkoptik zünd AG as a family business concentrating on the manufacture of lenses and prisms for illumination optics.

1993

Expertise in miniaturized optics

Specialization in miniaturized optics, such as rod lenses and objective lenses for medical devices. We establish ourselves in the Swiss and German markets with this focus.

1997

Highest quality as our standard

New quality standards for production processes – certified to ISO 9001. At the same time, the complexity of our products increases and we develop our first prismatic assemblies.

2013

Bespoke development

Expansion of our staff and expertise. We expand our services to include product and process de velopment and develop our first optical system.

2014

More Service, more security

Rapid prototyping renders flaws visible in the design phase – allowing us to provide even better support to our customers in the context of development projects.

2015

Miniaturization in perfection

With experience in the manufacturing of miniaturized optical components we are expanding our competencies and constructed our first opto - electro-mechanical system in the form of a miniaturized camera.

History

From 1977 to 1991, Johann Zünd had collected a lot of experience in different companies producing optical components. In 1990, Johann Zünd decided to go into business for himself and founded Feinwerkoptik Zünd AG on the 21.02.1991. The company was located in Buchs, Switzerland, in an apartment.

His wife, Beatrice Zünd, had supported him with dedication in all his decisions. Together, they built up a team with five employees to produce lenses and prisms for illumination optics.

1993, the decision was made to manufacture miniaturized optics for medical applications. Rod lenses and objective lenses were the very first products within this field of optical components. Years of establishment in markets Switzerland and Germany followed as well as years of technical improvement of products, diversity, volumes and quality. With certification ISO 9001 in 1997, the demand for highest quality was expressed again. Not only quality but also complexity of products was moved into a higher level shown by the single-unit production of prismatic assembly e.g. SPIFFI.

2003, Feinwerkoptik Zünd AG moved to Werdenberg due to team member increasing up to eight and higher volume of sales. More than 1000 square meters for production and engineering provide for perfect conditions to realize high tech optics. The number of team members was increased to 15 by the year 2007 and the infrastructure was expanded and modernized. Also in 2007, the aprenticeship training for the very first Glasbearbeiterin started. She did it well and completed in 2009 with success.

2012, René Zünd – the son of Beatrice and Johann Zünd – entered Feinwerkoptik Zünd AG as designated follower. 2013, the first optical systems were designed and developed in Feinwerkoptik Zünd AG.
